‘Periferia’: The Game

Across 2015 and 2016, Transnational Dialogues  has been developing a research on the shifting role of “marginals” as motors of social and cultural change – looking at perspectives from China, Brazil and Europe. The Brazilian designer Andrés Sandoval created a series of 32 stamps called “Periferia” (i.e., periphery), which represents elements, which he associates with the marginal areas of São Paulo, such as crowds, rain, floods, tear gas, drones or militar police. China-UK Street Art Link

With the support of Transnational Dialogues, curators Rachel Marsden and Andy Cooke have organised RareKind China, a showcase of the diverse visual identities of graffiti and street artists from China and the UK, who were invited to create original work that responds the international context of street art and to the 30-year history of the Centre for Chinese Contemporary Art (CFCCA). In the opening days of the 56th Venice Biennale, Transnational Dialogues is participating in AB-STRIKE. This platform of events, set up by S.a.L.E. Docks and MACAO and taking place from from 1 to 8 May 2015 in Milan and Venice, is a practice of subversive imagination, a laboratory of commons, a hotbed of actions, artworks, talents and debates. Informal meeting TD 2015-2016 at Ponto Aurora

Join us  for an informal discussion around Transnational Dialogues 2015-2016 at Ponto Aurora in São Paulo (Rua Aurora, 858, República) from 6pm to 9pm, on Wednesday 25 March 2015. Themes and ideas concerning this new edition of the project will be shared and openly discussed with those who attend.

Lorenzo Marsili and Luigi Galimberti will present the Transnational Dialogues Journal 2014 with articles by Luiz Camillo Osorio, Hu Fang, Barbara Szaniecki, Jota Mombaça and many others. Copies will be given for free as long as available.
